An online preliminary self-assessment tool for hantavirus infection — for those who want to quickly understand whether they should see a doctor.
hantavirus-risk is a free preliminary risk assessment tool designed to help people quickly self-assess the likelihood of hantavirus infection. The test analyzes symptoms, exposure history, and risk factors to provide an approximate result and help guide the decision to seek medical care.
Hantavirus is a rare but extremely dangerous disease. Early symptoms are indistinguishable from the common flu, and rapid deterioration can catch you off guard. Timely diagnosis and hospitalization are critically important.
Important: this test does not provide a medical diagnosis. It is created for informational purposes only.
20 questions covering key symptoms and exposures. Takes 3–5 minutes. Suitable for quick initial assessment.
50 questions with detailed analysis and differential diagnostics. Takes 10–15 minutes. Provides more accurate results.
Each answer receives a weighted score. The final sum determines the risk level: low, moderate, high, or critical.
The test runs entirely in your browser. No answers are sent to any server or saved. Anonymous and secure.
During hantavirus outbreaks (typically late spring through summer), many people don't realize how serious their symptoms might be. The goal of this project is to provide a simple, accessible tool for initial orientation: whether to call emergency services, see a doctor, or simply monitor your condition.
The test is based on current clinical data on hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS) and hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS).
